What areas do you specialise in?
My primary specialisms are IT, Technology, Business and Finance, including Contracts and CVs. I am also the regular translator for the publishers of various special edition industrial journals, the most recent on environmental technology.
Where are you based, and what time zone is that?
I am currently based in Tilburg, the Netherlands, on Central European Time (CET), or GMT +1.
What is your availability like?
I can be reached by email most of the time and will usually respond within 40 minutes. I use Skype and MSN for easy connection to regular clients. I never take on more work than I can handle and am extremely reliable, as you will see on my WWA record at ProZ.
How fast can you translate my text?
The speed of a translator depends a lot on the features of the text they are translating (text vs. hard copy/image, formatting, repetitions, complexity, subject matter). I am somewhat faster than the average translator, normally managing at least 3,000 words per day, but this can be even greater when working within my primary specialism. I have few binding commitments and so have also proven myself especially useful for larger urgent projects.
Can you help me with any later revisions to my text?
Of course. Whilst it is always best to work on a finalised version of your text, I understand that time constraints may not always permit this. In this circumstance, I can use translation memory software to easily spot the changes and so only charge for sentences that have been changed. Alternatively, this can be done for an hourly proofreading fee
How much do you charge?
Please see my Rates page for more information. I charge by quantity for translation, by time for bilingual proofreading (checking existing translations) and either time or quantity for monolingual proofreading.
What happens in regard to payment?
I accept payment in all currencies to my UK bank account. Whilst I prefer payment by bank transfer, I also accept payment via PayPal. Payment must be made within 30 calendar days of delivery of my invoice.
