Tools
Like all translators, I have access to several authoritative paper dictionaries and text-based sources, as well as reliable access to online sources.
I also use CAT (Computer-Aided Translation) tools. The CAT tools Lingocode uses work based on a so-called "translation memory" principle, based on statistical analysis and application of selected past translations. This is very different to automated translation tools such as Babelfish or Google Translate. CAT tools can be used to ease the translation process, as well as improving accuracy and aiding invoicing.
I prefer to use the OpenSource software "OmegaT". However I also use SDL Trados, SDLX, Wordfast and Across where it is required by my clients.
